Self Portrait by Felix Bernadelli, On the Shore of Lake Cajititlan
US Dollar Priced Item. A self portrait of the artist while painting in Cajititlan, Jalisco. Circa 1900. We are told by a descendant of the family who bought this from the artist around 1900 that the view is on the shores of Lake Cajititlan. I cannot 100% ascertain that the location is Cajititlan. Atiliano Felix Bernardelli (1866, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil – 1908, Guadalajara, Mexico) was a Brazilian Mexican painter and musician. He spent most of his life in Mexico teaching art. Gerardo Murillo and Roberto Montenegro were among his pupils. He was the brother of Mexican-born sculptor Rodolfo Bernardelli and Chilean-born painter Henrique Bernardelli. He was of Italian descent. This measures 16" x 19" framed and the actual artwork measures 25.5" by 18" (oil on canvas). Good condition but has extensive crazing.
