Antique Tabriz Rug, ca. 1900-1920, Iran. 50% OFF
Price in Mexican Pesos. This fine little Tabriz rug measures 2'3" by 4'3" and is in good condtion. It has a little loss on the corners and some field wear but is still in vrey usable condition. The color is rare for Tabriz but the design is their typical cartouche with a central medallion with tendrils hanging from each end of the medallion, The changes in the shades of red in the central field is called "abrash" and it is due to various batches of yarn used at the time of weaving ( a sign of an older rug woven in 'rustic' conditions, before quality control over the dying processes. I detect a few silk knots, the of white color trimming some designs are made from silk yarn.. they have a slight difference in color and sheen.
