Vintage Tlaquepaque Tourist Pottery Black Glaze, RARE "Rain" Design
Peso Priced Item. Vintage Tlaquepaque Tourist Pottery Black Glaze, RARE "Rain" Design, this design is a hard one to find. I believe they call this a wedding jug, you can drink out of both sides (?). The stylized palms are very reminiscent of the Lucano family but it is not signed. The height is 8" and it is 5 3/4" wide. There are a few little glaze chips on one spout and a defect in the glaze, top/right of center palm. It was a defect in the firing.

Donna McMenamin published a great book on Mexican tourist pottery in 1996. That book is titled "Popular Arts of Mexico - 1850 - 1950" In her book she tries to name the different designs by giving them nicknames. She calls this "Rain".
