Vintage Jacla Turquoise Necklace, Santo Domingo, New Mexico.
Santo Domingo Pueblo is traditionally known as Kewa Pueblo and
is located near the ancient Cerrillos turquoise mines, and its people have an entrenched history of making fine jewelry and heishi out of the colorful stones. At the ends of the heishi are strung Spiney Oyster Shells. These are worn by men. The stones weigh 10 troy ounces. 21" long.
