* Navajo-Weaving-Two-Grey-Hills-Area-New-Mexico
Priced in Mexican Pesos. Discounts will be applied at Check-out.This Navajo weaving was woven in the area of the Toadlena/Two Grey Hills trading posts (Chuska Mountains of New Mexico). This class of weavings were first woven in the period from 1911 onward. The history of these special designs and colors is laid out here for you to see:
At Toadlena Trading Post, George Bloomfield had become friendly with his neighbor Ed Davies, who owned the Two Grey Hills trading post down the road. Together they worked with the local weavers to develop an improved textile that would be marketable to collectors. Use of natural color and hand spun fiber, fineness of weave and more intricate design patterns were the chosen path.Black, gray, beige, brown, cream and white are the signature colors for a Toadlena/Two Grey Hills textile, which makes them easily distinguishable from other Navajo weavings.
This piece is true to form; colors, design and materials. This measures 71" by 43". In good condition with about 5" of unraveling on the side finish of one end (see my last photo).
