Huichol Yarn Painting by Modesto Rivera Lemus, Tepic, Nayarit
Priced in Mexican Pesos. These folk art paintings by the Huichol tribes of western Mexico are all one of a kind, 'dreams' of the artist. This particular one has the story written on the reverse, most do not. The artist tells us that this work shows a young girl lighting candles with her mother and a Shaman who tells her that her deceased grandfather is watching over her .. The strings are set into local beeswax and in the case of this one, some strings are coming loose at the corners. All strings are present, they can be reset with some TLC. This measures 12' by 12" mounted on plywood.
