# Huichol Beadwork Plaque with Mirror, Peyote Worship, RARE!
Priced in Mexican Pesos. Huichol Indian Art.
7.25" wide and 13.25 tall, Beads mounted in beeswax with two old Mexican coins and a mirror to let the Gods peak into your life.. peyote, deer, an eagle, a house, some corn, etc.. all the Huchol symbols of plenty.
(This is set on a simple piece of plywood)
This plaque represents a window for the gods to come into your home.. originally the mirror had light rays of paint around the edges but the paint was thin and faded with time.
I bought this in San Andrés Cohamiata, Jalisco during a visit there in 1988. What an experience. You fly in on a little prop plane on a Monday and the next flight out is Friday. For one week I was the only foreigner there... a little scary, especially when the people won't look you in the eye .. but they were very welcoming and gave me a place on the floor to sleep in a shed.
I had been invited by one of the village men who was selling morales in Puerto Vallarta.
I took cans of sardines and crackers for my food, no stores, no restaurants.
Every morning they gave me the best tasting tortillas I have ever tasted, dipped in cooking oil. Early memories of my life in Mexico.
