Hereke Silk on Cotton Rug, Turkey, 1950's
Peso Priced Item; An old Hereke from Turkey. Hereke, a coastal town in Turkey. They are famous for their silk and metalic thread palace size carpets but they also made this type of rug with a cotton foundation and silk pile. This is perhaps 75 years old. An appealing design with soft colors.
This measures 83" by 60". Condition is worn as is common with these silk rugs, they just weren't meant to be walked on with shoes. But considering it's age there are no losses to the edges.
