Cow & Calf, Vintage Tlaquepaque Pottery, Attributed to Julian Acero
Priced in Mexican Pesos. Julian Acero was famous for his clay toys made in the first half of the 20th C. he inspired Candelario Medrano who went on to make large figures, not so much sticking only to toys for children. This and a companion lot we offer here on our webpage, were found in an older Ajijic home when the current owners purchased it in the 1980s'. For that reason we do not think either of these is from a later period and most likely from 1950 or before. No signature but all the shape and colorations of the famous Julian Acero are present.
9 1/2" tall and 11" long, good over all condition with the tip of one horn missing!
