Carved Wood Statue of Archangel Michael, 50" tall, "Estofado"

Peso Priced Item:  A beautiful wood carving that has been painted in the classic Estofado style.  With the classic Estofado process the wood is coated with gesso, then the gold is laid on and then painted over. The paint is removed in the desired design revealing the gold beneath. In this case, the gold may have been applied after the paint in a Faux Estofao technique.  The result is, none the less, impressive being applied to 100% wood.  This measures 24" wide at the wings and 50" tall.
