Vintage Batik attributed to Gustel Foust, Ajijic Artist

Peso Priced Item:   Painter and bastik artist Auguste Killat Foust (1915-2010) better known as Gustel Foust, had lived in Mexico for 20 years before moving to Ajijic, where she lived from 1978 to 1984.  (this data thanks to Toni Burton's This Batik is unsigned but it is from the Estate of an immigrant family who had close contact with the artistic community in the 70's and 80's and I have handled many of her signed batiks and paintings and there is little doubt this was done by her.  Foust painted the Mexican people in this daily lives. It is not in perfect condition and is priced accordingly.  The colors have faded some, the fabric is torn away from the 'hanger' at the upper left corner. This measures 21 1/2" by 34". (FEM)
