Antique Senna Wagireh, Ex. Condition, 51" x 74"
Peso Priced Item.. Wagireh is the name used in Iran to describe a rug, whose design represents a sample swatch of design motifs that would be used in a large room or palace sized carpets to repeat. The design is referred to as: crowns of flowers called "gol-e farangi"
This Wagireh is a conundrum, the knotting and weft pattern of several different towns .. I have sent photos to my contacts in Iran and the USA .. asking to name the region where it was woven.
Lots of varying opinions .. one thing they all agree on is that it is a RARE design and a valuable rug based on that detail alone. There is a similar design rug in the Louvre colection ..https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010332289
