# Antique European Talavera Pot , Dutch?
Antique European Talavera Pot , Dutch? .. This old pot measures 5.5" tall and 6.25" wide. Very good condition, as you can see. One way to tell the age of ceramics is to judge the color of the bare pottery where there is no glaze. This old piece shows the 'body' where the glaze ran in the kiln as VERY dark, many years exposed to the air. This aging is not something you can replicate, it takes many years to darken so much. I would speculate 150 years at least!
Designs could be dutch, it's the architecture I am still deciding on.
I acquired this from a very prominent old Mexican family (Los QuiƱones), they date back to the Colonial times.
The provenance is that it was gifted to the grandmother by an important antiques dealer in the 1960's.. antique it is, Mexican it is NOT!
